Meet the Rams

Merino rams at The Wrinkly Rams, Omarama

Come and Meet the Boys

We've got four working rams and a wether who are very used to visitors — and honestly, they're the real stars of the show here. If you've ever wanted to get properly up close with a merino ram (horns and all), this is your chance.

What Happens on the Day

One of our team will take you out to meet the rams, give you some feed to offer them, and tell you a bit about life on a high-country station. It's relaxed, it's hands-on, and it usually involves at least one ram trying to eat your jacket.

We'll also show you some raw merino fleece — it's a nice moment when people realise the wool in our shop started out on an animal they just patted.

Good to Know

  • About 20–30 minutes all up
  • Suitable for all ages — kids especially love it
  • Available year-round (no waiting for lambing season)
  • Plenty of photo opportunities — the rams are very photogenic

While You’re Here

After meeting the rams, welcome to visit the local café for a coffee and something to eat, and have a browse through the shop. We stock a good range of New Zealand-made gifts — merino, pounamu, paua, possum fibre — and it all means a little more once you've met the animals behind the name.

We’d love to see you. Give us a wave when you arrive. 👋
